How to Search Objects on Earth?

We are much familiar with Google as a Search engine to search anything on internet. How about a technology which integrates with Artificial Intelligence to search objects on the earth? Planet exactly does the same using Artificial Intelligence, Analytics and Object Detection technology with its immense storage capacity.

Planet builds on daily, global imagery and a 6+ petabyte archive to delivery planet Analytics, a suite of object detection and land classification feeds to query Earth.

This can be very useful in terms of getting various useful information helping identifying changes took on a specific part of the earth. Imagine you can search Trains, Buildings, Ships, Airplanes, Trucks, Cars, Road, etc. on the earth.

Currently Planet is taking images of the whole world everyday and making it available to the users. This is accomplished using 21 launchers, 1.5 million 29 MP images every day, 6 TB of data storage each day and 207 satellites in orbit.

The data is currently being used by various domains like Agriculture, Maps, Forestery, Finance, Security, etc. The data can be used by any user to see images, and compare the images of a different days to see changes and those results can be shared on mostly all social media.

As the next step, they are working on finding objects on the earth using Artificial Intelligence. It will also allow to compare the changes that took place in a span of time on a specific part of the earth.

It would be worth saying that we will have a queryable earth coming very soon. eg. How many buildings are available in India?
