Samsung introduces unbreakable phone

Technology that is never thought is innovation.

Most of us would have dropped the phone resulting crack at the edges, phone break or gone display. A small drop is enough to break your phone glass. Samsung now has the solution to this common issue.

Samsung has announced unbreakable display panels for its mobile devices which are verified by UL (Underwriters Laboratories) which is an official testing company. According to UL, the unbreakable display developed by Samsung Display passed the rigorous real-time durability test that is based on military standards set by the U.S. Department of Defense and is certified as 'unbreakable'.

The new designed OLED display panel is not only unbreakable but also flexible to mold. "The fortified plastic window is especially suitable for portable electronic devices not only because of its unbreakable characteristics, but also because of its lightweight and hardness, which are all very similar to glass,” said Hojung Kim, general manager of the Communication Team, Samsung Display Company.

This achievement was possible and certified by UL testing:
- dropping the phone nearly 4 feet (1.2 meters) above the ground in succession,
- exposing it to temperatures ranging from as high as 71 degrees and -32 degrees,
- subsequent 6 feet(1.8 meter) drop test which is significantly higher than U.S. military standard.

Samsung also released a video to show the unbreakable of the new display. Though the video doesn't look to be promising and professional.

Even after above tests, Samsung panel continued to operate normally with no signs of damage.
